On 17 December 2024, TWGHs Tsoi Wing Sing Primary School welcomed a special guest, NBA star Metta World Peace, who visited the campus. The event was further enriched by the attendance of the school's supervisor, Dr. Tsoi Wing Sing Ken, and Metta World Peace's son, Ron Artest III, who both inspired and encouraged the students.
Mr Metta interacted warmly with members of the school's basketball team and students, sharing his experiences. He is renowned for his outstanding basketball achievements, including winning the NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2010 and being named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2004.
Mr Metta also led the school's basketball team in a mini training session, showcasing his skills and participating in a 5-on-5 game with the students. The students were thrilled, eagerly mimicking his moves and creating an enthusiastic atmosphere. Mr Metta took the initiative to pose for photos with the students, creating lasting memories. He engaged in friendly conversations, discussing their basketball aspirations and sharing tips for improvement.
At the end of the event, the school presented Metta World Peace with a special commemorative gift to express their gratitude. Mr Metta also took the time to pose for photos with the students, leaving behind encouraging words along with his signature on basketballs and jerseys.
This event not only allowed students to feel the passion for basketball but also taught them that, no matter how challenging the road ahead may be, perseverance is key to achieving their dreams. TWGHs Tsoi Wing Sing Primary School will continue to strive to provide more learning and growth opportunities for their students, nurturing them to become future leaders.
